Long before the ceremony began, it was obvious what mattered most to Payton and Christian. It wasn’t creating a perfectly choreographed wedding day or checking every tradition off a list. They wanted to be present with each other, and photos that showed how the day actually felt. We had the honor of photographing their special day at Rockin’ S Ranch in Johnstown, Colorado. And it wasn’t just about capturing the big moments, but the intimate glances and quiet exchanges between the couple and their loved ones.

A Wedding Day Filled With Special Moments
As soon as we met Payton and Christian, we could tell these two were destined for each other. They were so comfortable with each other, and it radiated right through their photos from our first shots in their engagement session through their grand exit on their wedding day. When we discussed what they wanted their wedding photographs to feel like, they emphasized the importance of capturing small, candid moments like little giggles or whispered “I love you.” They wanted to be able to look back and be transported into the magic and emotions from that day. This is what truly lights us up as photographers. We absolutely love spotting those little moments and bringing the emotions to life on camera.
With this in mind, the couple planned several special moments with their guests. We coordinated a first look with Payton and her dad, as well as both bridal parties. The couple also shared a sweet first touch between just the two of them. We also found the perfect corner for Payton and Christian to share their first touch and exchange heartfelt words before walking down the aisle. Rockin’ S Ranch required thoughtful planning to make each moment feel private while keeping the day running smoothly. Since most of the wedding party got ready on-site, we had to make sure no one saw each other too soon! We worked closely with the couple and their planner to map out each location in advance. Even their ceremony was filled with intentional details and planning, including opening a box filled with sentimental items. Capturing these deeply personal moments allows us to tell our couples’ love stories in a way that feels authentic and genuine to who they are.

An Outdoor Reception at Rockin’ S Ranch
After vows were exchanged and Payton and Christian were pronounced man and wife, it was time for the reception to begin! Rockin’ S Ranch set the perfect backdrop for the rustic celebration, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. As golden hour approached, we were able to capture stunning portraits with the most magical lighting. It’s moments like these that remind us why we fell in love with wedding photography.
The reception was filled with heartfelt speeches and lots of laughter between the couple and their guests, which we were lucky enough to document. After dinner and cake cutting, it was time to dance the night away! Payton and Christian surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance. They then got everyone on the dance floor with an anniversary dance that carried the party well into the night. When it was time to say goodbye, the couple did a quick outfit change, including an adorable short white dress and sneakers for Payton and a linen set for Christian, before running through their streamer send-off!

Wedding Photography That Feels Authentic
There are some couples who remind us why we love what we do as wedding photographers. Payton and Christian were such a pleasure to work with. They truly trusted us to preserve their wedding day memories in a way that felt genuine to who they were as a couple. The love that they shared for one another was so strong and spilled over into every one of their photos. As photographers, we are so grateful they trusted us to capture it on film.
If documenting your wedding in a way that feels deeply personal and authentic to you, we would love to work together and bring your vision for your wedding day to life. Drop us a note and tell us a bit more about your special day, and let’s create something beautiful together.
